Consumer Price Index — divisional contribution to headline inflation

How much each COICOP division added to Nigeria's headline inflation rate, in percentage points, exactly as printed by the National Bureau of Statistics on pages 6-7 of its monthly Consumer Price Index report under "Contributions of items on the divisional level". Two figures are published for each of the thirteen divisions every month — the contribution to the year-on-year rate and to the month-on-month rate — and both are carried here to the two decimals the source prints, with no figure recomputed by Prism. THIS IS NOT A DIVISIONAL INFLATION RATE AND MUST NOT BE READ OR RENDERED AS ONE. The contributions are shares of the headline: the thirteen sum to the headline rate itself (15.45 against a published headline of 15.4299 in July 2026, the gap being the source's own two-decimal rounding). Each divisional figure equals that division's basket weight divided by one hundred times the headline year-on-year rate, so dividing a contribution by its weight returns the headline for every division alike, never the division's own price change. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages contributing 6.18 points in July 2026 does not mean food prices rose 6.18 per cent; food inflation is much higher, and is carried on nbs-prices-cpi-change-nga. The source prints a caveat with the table — "items contributing 0.00 have values beyond two decimals" — so a printed 0.00 is a small number rather than a zero; rows printed 0.00 are flagged as such. Declared against the 2024=100 base, national (composite) universe only: the report publishes no urban, rural or state contributions table.
