Every data page should tell readers which source publication a figure came from, and which publisher released that publication.

Source publications

Prism catalogues public statistical publications and exposes source-publication details on dataset and series pages from the public views.

Publisher and originator

A source publication can have a publisher and a separate table originator. For example, a statistical abstract may be published by one institution while individual tables are compiled by other public bodies. Prism shows both roles where the source caption has been resolved; when the source caption is absent, the page says so instead of treating the publisher as the originator.

How to check a figure

Start with the dataset or series page. Use the source publication, release date and page reference where they are shown. If a page marks the originator unknown, cite the source publication and the printed reason rather than guessing one. How data is processed is described in the Methodology.

Reuse and licensing

Prism does not grant new rights over underlying source data. Check the source publisher's terms before reusing the data outside Prism.

Maps and boundary data

Map boundaries are display aids, not statistical claims. The state map in the inflation explorer uses administrative boundaries from geoBoundaries (ADM1 level), published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0) and derived from GRID3 Nigeria.
