Power · Source: NERC via NBS · monthly

International comparability — CSA: Economic (Energy) · IRES (International Recommendations for Energy Statistics)

Monthly volume of electricity billed to customers by each of Nigeria's electricity distribution companies (DisCos), in gigawatt-hours (GWh), 2015-2025. 'Energy billed' is the source's term for supply reaching customers, net of transmission and distribution losses. Source: Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), via the National Bureau of Statistics.

This series measures electricity billed to customers — distribution-level energy, not grid generation — by Nigeria's 11 distribution companies, in gigawatt-hours (GWh), monthly from January 2015 to December 2025. Energy billed reached 25,868 GWh in 2025, an 11-year high and up 8.5% year on year, but only 27.2% above the 2015 level of 20,337 GWh. Monthly supply ranged from 1,059.5 GWh (July 2016) to 2,292.6 GWh (March 2025).

Why this chart?

A composition tracked over time — a 100% stacked bar shows each part's share per period while the stack itself is the whole.

Chosen: 100% stacked bar chart · auto-selected from the data profile.

Both downloads carry every observation — institution, period, value, unit and source — and reconstruct the whole series.

  • Received vs billed — ATC&C loss

For 2018-2019, TCN also published Energy Consumed/Received by DisCos (energy taken off the grid before billing). The gap between that received-energy series and this billed-energy series is distribution and commercial (ATC&C) loss (about 20% nationally in 2018-2019). This NERC monthly series is the canonical ongoing supply figure.
