Mineral production in Nigeria by mineral type, 2018-2020, national, in tons. Source: NBS Annual Abstract of Statistics 2023, Table 233; data provider Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. ⚠ THIS IS MINING AND QUARRYING OUTPUT, NOT MANUFACTURING OUTPUT. The eleven members are ISIC mining and quarrying categories; nothing here is a manufactured good. The series is filed under the Manufacturing theme because that is the chapter NBS printed it in. Quarrying of stone, sand, silica sand, sandstone, laterite, shale and clay is 98.4% (2018), 98.2% (2019) and 98.1% (2020) of the total, so the aggregate is overwhelmingly construction aggregates rather than metals or precious minerals. ⚠ UNIT AMBIGUITY, UNRESOLVED: the source says only "(Tons)" and never defines it. A short ton is 907.18 kg against a metric tonne of 1000 kg — a ~10% error on every figure if guessed wrong. Table 242 of the same chapter writes "Metric Tonnes" in full, so the omission here is not safely read as metric. The unit is TONS_UNSPEC, deliberately not mapped to MT. Hard Coal, Peat and Salt are printed as 0 in all three years — a printed zero, not a blank. Uranium & Thorium Ores (Zircon Sand) jumps from 531.01 (2018) to 126,070.41 (2019) and back to 2,043.91 (2020); Table 234 attributes ~126,127 tons of zircon and zircon sand to Nasarawa State in 2019, so the spike is corroborated within the chapter and is not treated as a typo. The eleven components sum to the printed TOTAL exactly in every year (54,987,647.23 / 57,295,369.61 / 62,644,417.67). The printed TOTAL is NOT a member of this series — it is served separately as nbs-mfg-mineral-production-total-nga — so summing this series does not double-count.
